Keep going. Keep moving. Inch by inch.
I know it’s not easy especially when the doubting energy swells within but all energy moves. The only thing constant in life is change. So when you start feeling the doubts and the negative talk within, take a good breath and remember that everything changes, including the heavy feelings.
I know it’s uncomfortable to try something new because we don’t know what we are doing. We are afraid of looking stupid even if we don’t admit it to ourselves. That's the ego. The ego, also known as the "I maker" the ahankara in yoga, is all about keeping us falsely protecting our knowledge, body and status. Maybe that's why we feel foolish when we go after anything different or new. Our ego wants us to be the best in the room and instead, when we are learning, we should stay humble and grateful that we get to grow.
I know it’s challenging to take a step when all you want to do is bury your feet in the ground and throw the covers over your head. The days when nothing goes right, the negative thoughts are strong and the path to the heart feels lost, it's not easy to see beyond the challenge. Maybe on days like this, we slow down, we catch a breath and we ground ourselves. It's okay to be still. It's okay to feel the heavy. It's definitely okay to cry.
Keep going. Inch by inch.
What’s on your mind lately? What consumes you? What thoughts play on repeat? Everything is energy and we can feed the good and we also can feed the low, distracting, exhausting energy. Taking time to reflect on how we are feeling, what we are thinking about, how are we eating, resting, moving can help us understand where our energy is going.
If you were to paint a picture of how you want to live, what does it look like? Is it a painting of a city, the ocean, the country mountain side? Are there kids, dogs, cats, chickens running around? Do you have a partner? What are your hobbies? Are you a writer? Musician? Farmer? Consultant? Coach? What makes you happy? If you could imagine a life that brings you joy and peace, what does it look like?
Inch by inch, move in a direction that makes you happy.
When we feel overwhelmed with life, we crave comfort. We want someone to tell us that everything is going to be alright. Comfort is important in life but comfort can also stop us from achieving what we truly desire. Sometimes the missing piece of our puzzle is on the other side of fear.
The beauty of our spirituality and living from our heart is that we start to believe that we, our own heart, body, mind and soul represents our comfort zone. We allow ourselves to feel all the emotions, all the stuff and we know it will pass. We'll be alright. We look within ourselves and trust our process. We listen to our heart. We move in a direction that makes us feel good. Even if it's just a baby step.
Keep going. Keep moving. Inch by inch. Listen to your heart and live your one sweet, beautiful life.
